Bow

Mairuru's blog is fantastic, and a great source of inspiration! It's often updated, and filled with cute and colourful handmade things. Her sewing-by-hand is crazy, and makes me wish that I'd rather sew *more* by hand whenever i fail, rather than turn to my sewing machine whenever I see the result of my hand-stitching..
.
Today, I found an old post of hers, where she makes cute bows for barettes. Inspired like crazy, I pulled out like half of my pottering-shelf to find something to use. I was planning on using white fabric, lace with a pink ribbon, pink lace and pink buttons, but ended up using only the first two. This as it took longer time than expected (as mentioned, my sewing-by-hand could be *somewhat* improved) so I made it a bit smaller, but also as it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. It's cute already, I just think I might do some more before I get the hang of it... *Glances at the sewing machine* ..What if I could make the seams more even and.. No, not this time, right? This time I'll have to do it the hard way.

Skirts

As I'm sure I've made obvious by now, I'm a big fan of cute stuff. And these skirts are both cute, and almost ridiculously simple to make. It's basically a cylinder (or two, with differrent lengths) with a channel for an elastic ribbon at the top. Any uneven seams (they do exist, even though I sometimes claim that they don't) can easily be covered with lace or another ribbon.
.
A skirt of this kind might very well have been the first piece of clothing I ever made, although I'm pretty sure that one was in only one layer. I might still have it, if I find it I can publish pictures of that one as well..

Apron

Not much to say really.. Finished this project, which has been lying in my craft-shelf for what seems like ages. I'm kind of happy with the result, but I really hate the crappy webcam-quality of my pictures. But I can't do anything about that right now, so I'm just going to stop whining and start doing something constructive instead.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween cards and cup cakes, that's the most creative thing I've in the last week or so, I'm afraid.. And the cup cakes didn't even turn out exactly how I wanted them, the liquorice sauce was a little more more.. fluid than I thought. So I'll remember that until next time, perhaps melted chocolate would do better?
.
Althought, there is plenty of inspiration to find, among the colourful leaves, that are torn away from the trees by the cold and merciless winds of November; in the steel gray mornings, when the sky is high and the sun is slowly rising in the distance; or in a plain cup of warming tea, cuddling under the blankets a dark autumn evening. I couldn't complain, really ^_^
.
Another great source of inspiration is Gublerland, Matthew Gray Gubler's website, and particularly beautiful is where he reads Anabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe. It's a little bit tricky to find, but follow the link and scroll down until you find it (it's totally worth it!) :)
